Podiatry is the modern name for Chiropody. The name was introduced to bring the UK into line with the rest of the world. When seeking podiatry treatment it is important to be sure that your podiatrist is registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). The HCPC is similar to the General Medical Council, covering the registration of many health professionals from audiologists to physiotherapists. Only those registerd with the HCPC can call themselves a Podiatrist. You can check if a person is registered on the HCPC website. If the person treating your feet is not registered then you may be putting your foot health at risk.
